Gliwice Cardiac Rehabilitation Workshop
12-14.09.2025

 

 

This cardiac rehabilitation workshop is focused on the exercise training programming for patients with cardiovascular diseases. The event is divided into three distinct modules: exercise testing, exercise programming and exercise training.  By incorporating both lectures and interactive practical part workshop participants should be familiar with main topics. Course includes the optional cardiopulmonary exercise testing workshop conducted by the expert in this field.

The event is dedicated to:

  • exercise specialists (physiotherapists, exercise physiologists), 
  • physiotherapy students, 
  • nurses,
  • physicians involved in cardiac rehabilitation field (cardiologists, rehabilitation and internal medicine specialists).

The workshop is partially accredited by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation and is held under the patronage of the Cardiac Rehabilitation and Exercise Physiology Group of the Polish Cardiac Society.  The participants will receive additional online course materials (appendix, simple exercise calculator and bibliography).

Adam Piotr Staroń, MD, PhD

 

A cardiologist with over 20 years (since 2001) experience in clinical cardiology and almost 10 years’ experience in cardiac rehabilitation (since 2014).  In 2014 he established Cardiac Rehabilitation Department in Katowice, Poland, and implemented there as first in Poland yoga and tai chi. He has been working there until Dec 2015, overseeing 11- beds residential Cardiac Rehabilitation Department. Between 2016 and 2022 Work he has been working at Prince Sultan Cardiac Center Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he established the first cardiac rehabilitation program in the Kingdom in 2018, then he has written as co-author curriculum of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Fellowship for certified cardiologists and physiatrists, approved by Saudi Council for Health Specialties.

In 2022 as main author he published a textbook: “Exercise prescription in cardiac rehabilitation” published by MDPI. In Febr 2023 he established Cardiac Rehabilitation Department in Gliwice, Poland (24 beds residential cardiac rehabilitation department specifically dedicated to early post-myocardial infarction patients). Currently he is serving as a Head of Cardiac Rehabilitation Department in the Upper Silesian Medical Center in Katowice, Poland.

During last 10 years he attended numerous international and domestic cardiac rehabilitation courses, e.g., Bern (EAPC course), Hong Kong, Nottingham (BACPR course). Dr Staron serves as a Board Member of the Cardiac Rehabilitation and Exercise Physiology Group of the Polish Cardiac Society.

Jerzy Rybicki, MD, PhD

 

Specialist in internal medicine and rehabilitation. He has been working at Repty Rehabilitation Center in Tarnowskie Gory, Poland since 1983 until 2017 He served as a Head of Cardiac Rehabilitation Department (50-beds residential cardiac rehabilitation) between 2006 and 2017.

Dr Rybicki has been actively involved as Board Member of the Cardiac Rehabilitation and Exercise Physiology Group of the Polish Cardiac Society in development of cardiac rehabilitation programs. He is an author and co-author of 6 textbooks published in Polish language and 63 peer-reviewed articles. Area of his special interest is exercise testing –Dr Rybicki implemented individual ramp tests on treadmill known in Poland as Rybicki 5, Rybicki 6.5 etc. to attain specific number of METs exactly at 10 min of the test.
